I am originally from Brazil and am a native Portuguese speaker with strong proficiency in both Spanish and English. I utilize these language skills to deliver effective counseling services across all three languages. My psychotherapy practice serves adolescents, adults, families, and couples, driven by a psychoanalytic orientation that prioritizes ethical listening and acceptance. I help individuals explore their relationships with themselves, others, and the world, focusing on unconscious processes and honoring the unique experiences of each person. My primary aim is to empower individuals to realize their full life potential, guiding them to understand their responsibilities in how they live, work, suffer, and love. This therapeutic process is liberating; it encourages clients to reject outdated standards and embrace their own authentic ways of existing. I support them in asserting their desires and positions in the world without hesitation.

I work exclusively with couples. Since my practice is online, I meet with married and unmarried partners throughout Illinois. Spouses and partners commonly attribute their conflict to poor communication. Often, feelings of anger and resentment have become so dominant in the relationship that every communication is tinged with criticism or contempt. My goal with couples is to short circuit these destructive patterns of communication. All by itself that can lower tension. It can allow expressions of vulnerability. And that sets the stage for real work on the issues that constrain a couple's ability to recapture the loving feelings that once brought them together. My approach draws from multiple disciplines. Cognitive-behavioral and Gottman's theories can help us defuse day-to-day conflict. Internal Family Systems and psychodynamic therapy can help us understand why it is occurring.
